The Sri Lanka Export Development Board has organized a seminar on “Current and Future Technology Trends” for the Sri Lankan IOT, ICT, and Electronics and Electrical Sector exporters and potential exporters to increase the awareness on current and future technology trends in the world.
The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) organised a half day seminar on ‘Digital Doors to Trade’ for Sri Lankan exporters to create awareness on Business to Business (B2B) and Business to Consumer (B2C) digital trade platforms. The seminar was held recently at the EDB Auditorium with the participation more than 125 people.
On the invitation by the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Sri Lanka a Ministerial Delegation led by the Hon. Sujeewa Senasinghe, State Minister of International Trade together with the representatives from Board of Investment (BOI), Joint Apparel Association Forum (JAAF) and Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) are currently in Turkey attending meetings related to trade and investment promotions. The delegation will also attend the 86th Izmir International Fair opening ceremony and seminar program.
The EDB facilitated the Sri Lankan educational services exports sector to participate in the 11th ECAN Education Fair which was held in Nepal from 20-23 July, providing information, coordination and financial assistance under the EDB Market Development Assistance Program.

Export of travel-related products from Sri Lanka will enjoy duty free entry to the United States following a decision by the US administration to approve the inclusion of travel goods from all GSP beneficiary countries, including Sri Lanka, in the expanded US GSP scheme on July 1, 2017.
The EDB conducted a Forum on Entrepót Trade with the participation of a large number of traders/exporters and others engaged in the Entrepót trade. Sri Lanka Logistics & Freight Forwarders’ Association (SLFFA), Sri Lanka Shippers’ Council (SLSC), Shippers Academy Colombo and several public sector institutions relevant to the trade including Sri Lanka Customs, Ports Authority and BOI collaborated with EDB in organizing the Entrepót Traders’ Forum held at EDB Auditorium on 13th July 2017.
With the help of foreign missions, the Export Development Board (EDB) confirmed that its collective effort has enabled it to knock on the doors of some well-known international brands that are keen on shifting their production facilities to Sri Lanka.

The EDB, with the assistance of the Sri Lanka High Commission in UK, organised a Technical Training and Exposure Programme for the Rubber Products Sector, at Tun Abdul Razake Research Center (TARRC), UK from June 13 to 16, for eleven representatives (technically qualified) from leading companies manufacturing and exporting rubber products including an officer from the Rubber Research Institute in Sri Lanka.
The EDB organized a seminar on “Export opportunities in the Pakistan Market” with the objective of increasing awareness of the market opportunities available in the Pakistan market for Sri Lankan products.
