The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) successfully held its 24th Exporters’ Forum on the 25th of this month. The forum, a platform for discussing and resolving issues faced by exporters, was presided over by State Minister of Investment Promotion, Hon. Dilum Amunugama.
The participation of Secretary of the Ministry of Investment Promotion, Mr. M. M. Naimudeen, EDB Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Kingsley Bernard, and Additional Director General (Development), Ms. Anoma Prematilleka were among the key figures representatives from Export Advisory Committees, Exporter associations, the Chamber of Commerce, private sector companies, and state institutions were also in attendance.
"Expressing his views on the occasion, the Minister stated that the forum organized by the Export Development Board has made significant progress in resolving the issues faced by exporters. Further elaborating, the Minister mentioned that with the President's instructions, a new division has been established in the Sri Lanka Police. This division is expected to address the legal issues faced by investors and exporters and provide them with additional security in the future. He further stated to establish a Trade Facilitation Task Force at the EDB with designated focal points from the relevant public sector agencies to identify, analyze, and address bottlenecks in the export value chain."
The Trade Facilitation and Trade Information Division of the Export Development Board organizes the exporters' forum on a regular basis.
