The Sri Lanka Export Development Board in collaboration with the Royal Thai Embassy in Sri Lanka organized a Technical Exposure and Capacity Building Programme for 11 export oriented food & Beverage entrepreneurs coinciding “THAIFEX – Anuga Asia -2024”, Bangkok, Thailand.
The programme consisted of an exposure visit to THAIFEX – World Food Asia, factory visits and training and knowledge sharing sessions at Food Innopolis - a premier institute dedicated to food innovation in Thailand, Thai Packaging Center, Bang Chang Organic Farmer Group, Thai Chamber of Commerce (TCC), Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), GI Thailand and Department of Intellectual Property.
The Sri Lankan delegation's visit to Thailand included a diverse range of experiences aimed at enhancing the Sri Lankan food and agricultural export sectors. Beginning with visits to Food Innopolis and the Thai Packaging Center, delegates explored leading facilities and advanced packaging technologies. These insights are expected to catalyze innovation among Sri Lankan food and beverage companies, enabling them to develop new products, implement quality controls, and navigate international markets more effectively. Subsequent visits to organic farms and a leading coconut company provided further inspiration and opportunities for collaboration, while cultural immersions at the Amphawa Floating Market and the Chaipattana Foundation underscored Thailand's rich heritage and social responsibility initiatives. Meetings with key Thai business associations such as the Thai Chamber of Commerce (TCC), Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), GI Thailand, Department of Intellectual Property further encouraged the delegation's strategic outlook, concluding in their participation at THAIFEX – Anuga 2024 to improve their knowledge and exposure on international trends in food and beverage sector and forge new business partnerships.
Throughout their journey, the delegation gained invaluable knowledge and meaningful connections that could drive Sri Lanka's food and agricultural sectors forward. The exposure to innovative technologies, sustainable practices, and cultural insights not only broadened their perspectives but also equipped them with practical strategies to enhance product quality, expand market reach, and uphold intellectual property rights. These experiences are expected to resonate positively within Sri Lanka's business community, fostering a climate of innovation, collaboration, and international competitiveness in the global marketplace.
