Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) has initiated the process of revitalizing its existing National Export Strategy (NES). The NES was a five-year plan from 2018 to 2022 aimed at boosting Sri Lanka's export sector, improving the business environment, and increasing exports. The EDB is now focusing on updating the NES to address current market challenges and take advantage of emerging opportunities.
A stakeholder meeting was successfully held on 05th August 2024 at the Ministry of Investment Promotion to review the Boat Building sector plan with public and private sector stakeholders. The meeting was chaired by Mr. M. M. Nayeemudeen, Secretary, of the Ministry of Investment Promotion and Dr. Kingsley Bernard, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, EDB, Ms. Anoma Premathilaka, Additional Director General (Development), Ms. Kumudinie Mudalige, Director of Policy & Strategic Planning along with relevant officials were participated from the Sri Lanka Export Development Board. Higher level officials from the relevant Ministries, public sector officials, members of the Boat building Advisory Committee, and industry representatives were also in attendance.
During the meeting, the Secretary of the Ministry of Investment Promotion emphasized the importance of continuous efforts and collaboration among government agencies, private sector entities, and other stakeholders. The boat building sector plan was reviewed and will serve as the roadmap for export growth, with the commitment of all implementing agencies.
