The Export Development Board (EDB) partnered with Germany's Import Promotion Desk (IPD) to conduct an improvement training session aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of a selected group of export-ready, women-led businesses in the area of costing and pricing. This initiative forms part of EDB's Women-Led Exports capacity-building program, designed to equip participants with essential skills and capabilities to decide on the prices of their products for entering the European market.
Led by Ms. Angie Martinez, an Expert Sourcing & Markets Natural Ingredients-IPD, together with Mr. M Rajasingham, IPD's local consultant, the session covered key areas such as pricing strategy, financial company analysis, product cost calculation vis-à-vis pricing strategies, and determination of exporter and retail prices. The interactive workshop included insightful case studies to illustrate effective practices in these areas.
The collaboration between EDB and IPD Germany highlights a shared commitment to empowering export potential women entrepreneurs in Sri Lanka, equipping them with the knowledge and tools necessary for the successful navigation of international markets. This session significantly deepened participants' understanding of market dynamics, enabling them to make informed decisions crucial for sustainable growth and profitability in the EU market.
Initiatives like these play a pivotal role in fostering economic empowerment and diversity within the global trade landscape, paving the way for increased participation and success of women-led businesses in international trade.
