The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) recently conducted a successful webinar, focusing on fostering cooperation in the Shipping & Logistics sector between Sri Lanka and Vietnam. The main objective of the program is to promote capabilities and strengths of Sri Lanka’s logistics industry in the Vietnam.
The webinar commenced with opening remarks by Mr. Mangala Wijesinghe, Chairman & CEO of EDB, who emphasized the importance of strengthening the bilateral partnership in a key sectors like shipping and logistics between Sri Lanka and Vietnam to enhance trade efficiency and supply chain networks. His Excellency Poshitha Perera, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Vietnam, addressed the audience highlighting the importance of the logistics sector in both countries for economic development, stating the potential for mutual growth through improved connectivity and infrastructure development, further underlining the importance of collaboration between Sri Lanka and Vietnam.
A series of expert presentations from Sri Lanka & Vietnam followed, providing valuable insights into locational advantage, investment opportunities, operational best practices, and industry collaborations. Key speakers included, Mr.Sudath Jayasekara, Deputy Director BOI, Mr.Rajiv Fernando, Head of Commercial, Hayleys Advantis Free Zone Ltd, Mr. Navin Perera, Director – NVOCC & Logistics, GAC Group of Companies - Sri Lanka and Ms. Pham Thi Lan Huong, Head of Logistics Services Department, Vietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA).
The webinar highlighted the growing significance of the shipping and logistics sector in driving economic growth and trade efficiency between Sri Lanka and Vietnam. Both countries acknowledged the need for enhanced logistics & maritime connectivity, streamlined trade processes, and more robust engagement to maximize mutual benefits. The discussions further highlighted key areas such as port development, supply chain integration, regulatory frameworks, and investment opportunities, setting the stage for future collaborations and business partnerships.
The main audience of the webinar was from the Vietnam Logistics Business Association. There were over 40 professionals from different fields representing VLA in attendance, showcasing the interest in furthering collaboration in the shipping and logistics industries between Sri Lanka and Vietnam.
