The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) and Germany's Import Promotion Desk (IPD) have embarked on an exciting journey to uplift a selected group of women-led businesses in the agriculture sector. This long-term Capacity Building Programme aims to empower these inspiring entrepreneurs to successfully enter and thrive in the European market.
The programme aims to provide participants with in-depth training and knowledge sharing across key areas such as market intelligence, EU market trends, effective sales techniques, corporate social responsibility (CSR), export market entry requirements, and EU market standards. This comprehensive training, facilitated by the IPD-trained EDB business coaching team, ensures that these women entrepreneurs are well-equipped to navigate and succeed in the European marketplace.
Additionally, the programme offers personalized mentorship, providing tailored support for refining business strategies and marketing. It also facilitates networking opportunities, helping participants connect with European buyers and partners, opening doors to new business opportunities. Furthermore, the programme provides an exceptional opportunity for the best-performing women entrepreneurs to pitch their products to the EU market through dedicated matchmaking events.
The goals and impact of this initiative are far-reaching. By enhancing the business prospects of women entrepreneurs, the programme promotes economic empowerment, leading to broader socio-economic benefits. It aligns with sustainable development goals, emphasizing gender equality and responsible business practices. Moreover, it stimulates community growth by generating employment and economic activity in local communities.
A special thank goes out to Ms. Angie Martinez, Expert Sourcing & Markets Natural Ingredients-IPD, and Mr. Murugiah Rajasingham IPD Local consultant for their unwavering technical support, which has been pivotal in the success of this program.
