Sri Lanka’s merchandise and service exports in 2018 are estimated to have hit an all-time high of $ 17 billion, up 15% from a year earlier prompting the Government to be confident of achieving the $20 billion milestone this year.
The 22nd Presidential Export Awards Ceremony was held to celebrate the outstanding achievements of the Exporters at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo, on September 18, 2018, under the patronage of His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena the President of Sri Lanka.

The EDB in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Association of Manufacturers and Exporters of Rubber Products (SLAMERP) and Plastic and Rubber Institute of Sri Lanka (PRISL) organised a two-day workshop from 13 to 14 July on product innovation, technology and R&D to upgrade the knowledge of the tyre manufacturers/exporters by obtaining the services of international technical experts.

Sri Lanka Plast 2016, the main exhibition with focus on plastics processing and Rubexpo focused on manufacturing of rubber related products and services is scheduled to take place from 5 to 7 August at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo.
This would be the third edition of the event taking place in Sri Lanka which is organised by Enterprising Fairs (India) Ltd. The event will be organised together with The Plastics and Rubber Institute of Sri Lanka (PRISL) and supported by Ministry of Industry and Commerce Sri Lanka, Export Development Board (EDB), Industrial Development Board (IDB) and the Rubber Research Institute of Sri Lanka.
Enterprising Fairs India Limited, a B2B exhibition company from India, has collaborated with the Plastics and Rubber Institute of Sri Lanka (PRISL), to conduct their second edition of Sri Lanka Plast – a Plastics Expo and the first edition of Rubexpo – a Rubber Expo on 14, 15 and 16 August 2014 at BMICH, Colombo. The Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MOIC), Export Development Board (EDB), Industrial Development Board (IDB), Rubber Research Institute of Sri Lanka (RRISL) and Central Institute of Plastics and Engineering Technology, a government body of India (CIPET) have also extended their support to these B2B exhibitions.
The Plastics and Rubber Industry in Sri Lanka (PRISL), the apex organization focused on the training and development of manpower needed to the emerging requirements of the plastics and rubber based industries in Sri Lanka, has successfully accomplished three significant events
PRISL achieved a significant milestone in its history of 55 years when it launched a training programme on the practical aspects of rubber processing technology, with the support of Rishad Bathiudeen, Minister of Industry and Commerce.
