Malik Samarawickrama, Minister of Development Strategies & International Trade arranged a successful inward delegation from Pakistan following the research done by EDB in 2017 on new opportunities in Pakistan, the 2nd largest economy in South Asia. The Export Development Board (EDB) organised Sri Lanka’s participation at the 14th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) in Nanning, China from 12-15 September in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Consulate in Guangzhou.

This forum was held at the auditorium of AICE on 17th of October where it was attended over 70 potential buyers, importers, investors and the chamber representatives in Milan. The Sri Lanka Gem and Jewellery Association announced the approach of the 26th edition of ‘FACETS’ Sri Lanka’s foremost annual International Gem and Jewelry Show.
Established in 1991 with the patronage of the state and private sectors, the show has become the pinnacle event in the industry calendar. To be held at the BMICH from September 1-4.
FACETS will be held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena who will grace the event.
Chairman of FACETS Sri Lanka Juzar Adamaly said that the next goal of FACETS Sri Lanka is to establish Colombo as the Gem and Jewellery Hub of Asia. He made this remark while officially declaring the opening of 25th ‘FACETS Sri Lanka’ International Gem and Jewellery Exhibition in BMICH.
FACETS Sri Lanka 2015, the annual international gem and jewellery show, will be the flagship event of the sector.
More than 150 exhibitors will showcase their products from today till Sunday at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exhibition Centre. . “It is over a 10,000 foot fall this year throughout the four days of the exhibition. A large number of buyers from China have confirmed while over 100 international buyer delegation are expected to attend the show from China, India, Dubai, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, USA, Russia, Norway and Germany,” one of the top gem and jewellery exhibitors Zam Gems Managing Director Ahsan Refai told the Daily News business.
Sri Lanka’s largest gem and jewellery Facets 2015 will pave the way for local gem and jewellery dealers to showcase their products for international markets.
This will also enable small players in the industry to enter into the international arena. “We are expecting over a 10,000 participants this year throughout the four days of the exhibition. Sri Lanka's gem and jewellery export revenue will surge this year following the enormous exposure the country received at the International Coloured Gemstone Association (ICA) Congress held recently in Sri Lanka, Chairman, Facets Sri Lanka, Juzar Adamaly said on the sidelines of the 16th Congress at the Cinnamon Grand recently.
He said a large number of buyers and dealers across the world at the Congress were highly impressed with the country and the range of exquisite products it offers to the global market. It is premature to put a figure but certainly export revenue will spike within a month or two.
The 24th edition of FACETS Sri Lanka 2014, the international gem and jewellery exhibition organised by the Sri Lanka Gem and Jewellery Association (SLGJA) ended in a high note. The event was very successful with over 150 stall holders including individual exhibitor pavilions from The National Gem and Jewellery Authority (NGJA) and an SME pavilion from the Export Development Board (EDB).
In addition, over 100 international buyer delegations attended the expo, across China, India, Myanmar, Dubai, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, USA, Russia and Germany. Stall holders from Singapore, Dubai, Myanmar, China and India also participated at the event.
