Who Should Wear a Medical Mask?
A medical mask is recommended for the use of ;
- Health service workers, medical workers and first responders dealing with and taking care of COVID-19 infected patients and working in vulnerable environments like hospitals and ambulance service.
- Patients who have been infected with COVID - 19 or suspect themselves to be infected.
- People over 60 years and people with medical complications like cancer and respiratory disorders when in public settings and when around people who don’t live in your household, especially when social distancing measures are difficult to maintain like in congested public commutes, roads and buildings.
Things to do before wearing a medical mask
- Wash and clean your hands before touching the mask.
- Make sure that the mask is not damaged and has no holes or tears
- The top side of the mask is where the metal piece or a stiff wedge can be found. After wearing the mask, make sure its coloured side faces outwards.
- The top part of the mask should be on the top of the nose. If not, the mask is not being worn properly. Do not wear it under the nose. The mouth, nose, and chin have to be covered by the mask.
- After wearing the mask, make sure that there are no gaps left in the sides.
- Avoid touching the mask as much as possible after wearing it.

- Discard the mask after using it.
- Wash your hands after discarding the mask.
- Avoid keeping your mask within the reach of others.
